Strategic IP Management and Advisory Services for Government

The management of intellectual property (IP) and intangible assets is now a mandated requirement for government agencies at all levels across Australia. While many government and public sector agencies believe that either there is little or no IP within their agency, and that what there is has little value, there can often be significant value uncovered once IP is properly investigated. Such assets and IP could then later be commercialised, re-used, transferred, or better managed to optimise its value. This can result in cost-savings and improved service delivery for the agencies, and even result in new revenue streams.

The AIC has expertise, experience, and know-how to assist government agencies with practical methods for managing IP and intangible assets and assisting with their financial reporting requirements. Additionally, the AIC brings pragmatic approaches to valuing those assets, rather than treating IP as a legal and financial liability or reporting burden overhead.

Strategic advisory services include:

  • strategic advice and change management services on implementing management frameworks and processes to manage intellectual assets. These services will assist government to:
    • identify intellectual assets, including IP
    • capture intellectual assets and IP
    • manage intellectual assets and IP
    • better utilise and leverage value related to intellectual assets and IP
  • advice on establishing and promoting innovation platforms and methods within government
  • development of policy and implementation plans inline with government regulations and standards
  • IP advice for procurement and contracts, in particular SourceIT and GITC contracts related to ICT services

If you are a government or public sector agency requiring assistance to better manage IP, and require practical assistance in establishing the capability and supporting processes, the AIC can assist with your requirement.
