There have been a number of recent arguments that the definition of innovation should be broadened to reflect what some are describing as unique elements of the Australian industry structure. This is an important debate. Innovation is the foundation stone of continuing productivity growth, competitiveness and prosperity, and will become even more important in the future as we face new constraints to growth.
