National Broadband Network (NBN) a real commercialisation opportunity

National Broadband Network (NBN) a real commercialisation opportunity

AIC CEO Dr. Rowan Gilmore was recently invited to address the Senate Select Committee on the National Broadband Network (NBN). Although his comments on the need to check whether it has a real market have captured the attention of the ABC and quite a few of the AIC’s tweeters (as well as a few Senators), that misses the big story.

From a commercialisation perspective, Dr. Gilmore argues that many entrepreneurs fail in commercialisation because they have not done sufficient market research to check their idea or invention has a customer willing to buy it. That seems to be the case with access to the NBN and any business case that still needs to be made for it. The real opportunity in spending $43B however, is to build a stronger and more local telecommunication industry in Australia.

The attached submission tells the full story.
