AIC Works with CSIRO to Deliver Successful Commercialisation Bootcamp

The Australian Institute for Commercialisation (AIC), working closely with representatives of CSIRO, delivered a successful 2-day Commercialisation Bootcamp to the CSIRO Division of Exploration and Mining in April – the first in-house course the AIC has run for CSIRO.  

 

In a packed program, participants were:

 

•          given an introduction to commercialisation and an understanding of the various steps involved
•          exposed to examples where researchers had been able to take an idea to market
•          given an understanding of intellectual property and related issues
•          provided with a series of motivational CSIRO case studies
•          helped to develop and deliver a pitch on an idea.

    

The AIC’s workshop facilitator, Dr Lewis Atkinson, demonstrated his experience in “helping smart people with good ideas to develop business models that support them to continue to do what they love”.

    

Some of the modules included:

 

•          introduction to commercialisation
•          different ways to take ideas to market
•          R&D partnering
•          what you need to know about commercialisation at CSIRO.

   

Nearly all of the participants felt that the workshop enabled them to understand commercial realities more clearly, and that they now understood the actions they needed to take to commercialise the research they are involved in.

  

The AIC is already contracted to work with CSIRO to continue to deliver Commercialisation Bootcamps to other Divisions with CSIRO in the near future.
