Boost for Biotech Commercialisation in Victoria

Boost for Biotech Commercialisation in Victoria

The AIC and AusBiotech have strengthened their collaboration to provide focused assistance to the Victorian biotech industry to boost their commercialisation capacity.

With the biotech industrys capacity to commercialise IP suffering as a result of the severe economic downturn and the absence of a new scheme to replace Commercial Ready Grants, practical commercialisation support is required.

The AIC will assist AusBiotechs members in Victoria to improve their internal commercialisation capacity and skills by providing them with free access to the AICs on-line commercialisation support tool, the Gateway Enterprise. The partnership will provide AusBiotechs members simple and immediate access to an extensive range of commercialisation tools, all focused on leading practice commercialisation processes.

The tool will help companies in the biotechnology sector better articulate their IP and value proposition, and to develop well researched and articulated commercialisation strategies to give them more confidence in approaching organisations for investment capital.

The AIC has being providing services and support to the biotech industry since 2002 and is pleased to be able to continue to assist through this specific initiative with AusBiotech.

Around 30 Victorian biotech companies will be able to benefit from this additional support via a licence to the AICs on-line commercialisation assistance tools over the next 12 months.

The AIC is also continuing to work with biotech companies to assist them through the Victorian Government funded TechFast program, through provision of vital market research and strategy development assistance, and in accessing funding through programs such as the Enterprise Connect Researchers in Business program.
