Cairns entrepreneurs dedicated to building and developing their businesses

Cairns entrepreneurs dedicated to building and developing their businesses

The first workshop provided an introduction to the fundamentals of starting a business and included a case study presented by a guest speaker who had attended the same workshop twelve months earlier - a testament of the success possible for each participant. Mark Geddes of InDepth Video and Photography explained how as a result of attending the Ideas2Market workshop and with assistance from the Australian Institute for Commercialisations Innovation Coach Robert Buhrke , he and his business partner have expanded into new product areas.

The second workshop was aimed at those with an existing business who were looking to grow and improve. Tony Hartney, of Placid Pools, said he attended the workshop to gain inspiration about where to take the business next. Tony wanted to explore the options available for growth and investigate the possibility of expanding into additional markets.

Dr. Rowan Gilmore, CEO of the Australian Institute for Commercialisation (AIC) said that more than one hundred entrepreneurs and businesses attend the series throughout Queensland each year. Although many have a good idea of the basics of business, this series focuses on the importance and value of developing intellectual property that is unique and can differentiate the company in the market
