AIC working with ENERGEX to reduce the load on the electricity network

AIC working with ENERGEX to reduce the load on the electricity network

Queensland electricity consumers face dramatically increased power bills unless demand for electricity can be reduced during peak periods, such as on weekday afternoons in summer. Residential Targeted Initiatives (RTI) is one Energy Conservation and Demand Management initiative managed by ENERGEX to address this significant challenge.

The AIC has been working to help ENERGEX develop service options that will meet customer needs whilst reducing the amount by which the electricity network needs to be expanded in the future.

The AIC’s role has been to work with the air conditioner and pool pump industries to introduce and trial suitable new technology, and to help plan for the commercialisation of the new service over the next few years.

The AIC has also engaged Enhance Research to understand customer motivations in uptaking the new service options.
