Melbourne Commercialisation Masterclass enhances research commercialisation skills

Melbourne Commercialisation Masterclass enhances research commercialisation skills

A Commercialisation Masterclass will be held at the Holiday Inn, Melbourne on Wednesday 14th September to assist researchers in deriving full value from their research.

The Commercialisation Masterclass, run by the Australian Institute for Commercialisation (AIC), will develop and extend existing commercialisation knowledge and is designed for those who work in research commercialisation and for those seeking to commercialisation research or derive greater value from research activities.

During the full day Masterclass, attendees will cover: assessing a project for commercial potential, managing innovation and collaboration for commercial results, strategic management of new technology, negotiating deals and the valuation of intellectual property

Sessions are included from intellectual property specialists and those sharing their experiences and lessons learned from commercialising research.

Genevieve Langbien, Education Manager at the AIC, said past Masterclasses had received fantastic feedback.

“Commercialisation Masterclasses provide the opportunity to enhance and build on existing research commercialisation knowledge. This provides researchers with an enhanced understanding and greater commercial capability, leading to the potential more successful research outcomes” Ms Langbien said.

Professor Chris Langton of Queensland University of Technology attended a Commercialisation Bootcamp in Brisbane last year. Commercialisation Bootcamps are two day introductory workshops which researchers often take as a precursor to the Masterclass.

“Although I have 20 years’ experience of medical device commercialisation, I learned a great deal, particularly regarding process and venture capital. A very relevant two days packed with relevant information.”

The successful completion of the AIC’s Commercialisation program (consisting of a two-day Bootcamp and this one day Masterclass plus can now form part of a Masters degree offered by the University of Adelaide.

The Commercialisation Masterclass is $395.00 per person. For more information please visit
