Developing a new product or service?

Developing a new product or service?

Developing a new product or service? Access new assistance and funding to connect businesses and research organisations

The AIC has been appointed by the Australian Government to provide linkage services for its new Researchers in Business (RiB) program, to help businesses identify relevant research organisation expertise and formally engage with each other.

Under this program, the Australian Government has committed $10 million as part of the Enterprise Connect Network to support the placement of researchers from universities or public research agencies into businesses, where such a placement would help to develop and implement a new idea with commercial potential.  Funding for up to 50 per cent of salary costs and overheads, to a maximum of $50,000 will be provided for each placement.  Placements can be for a period of 2 to 12 months.

The free linkage services being provided by the AIC nationally will reduce the time and cost to businesses in launching new products or services by finding the right researchers to help speed their development.  Specifically, the AIC will assist businesses to:

  1. identify specific expertise, facilities and technology from across the entire range of Australian research organisations

  2. assess and select the best source of expertise to meet their needs

  3. facilitate the commercial relationship between themselves and potential research organisation partners, and provide assistance to access the funding available.

If you are a business (or a research organisation that has an identified industry partner) and wish to find out more about how the program and the AIC linkage services can assist your organisation then please contact:
