TechClinic model recognised at the 2011 Australian Business Awards
TechClinics are initiatives that assist the development of innovation and technology in SMEs through targeted collaborative R&D projects with the research sector. The importance of this model was recognised through the the Australian Business Award for Innovation.
This award recognises organisations that have made significant contributions to their industry through the introduction or improvement of an idea, method, technology, process or application resulting in an economic, environmental, educational and/or social benefit.
The Queensland Government recognises the importance of this model as a tool to facilitate collaborative projects between the research sector and industry.
The Queensland Government has engaged the AIC since 2008 to deliver the TechClinic initiative across Queensland.
Topics have included:
- Cool Solutions to reduce energy cost
- Can Queensland develop a viable fresh cut Pineapple industry?
- Sustainable tour boat operations
- Can value be created from CSG water?
The AIC has taken this initiative Australia-wide and beyond since 2009 delivering TechClinics in Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria. Topics have included:
- Driving Energy Efficiency through Developing Technology Solutions for Australian Smart Grid Projects
- What are the options available to the market and technology providers to improve ground source heat pump and direct use geothermal energys value and availability?
A testament to the delivery model of TechClinics is the engagement of organisations in New Zealand and Malaysia.
A recent Kiwi Innovation Network (KiwiNet) forum has been held in Christchurch to gain insights into how digital technology can improve farm, orchard and vineyard sustainable profitability and grow high tech manufacturing. The forum was facilitated by the AIC using our TechClinics approach.
